Growing up in a household of four sisters, Rupert naturally sought the sanctuary of his father’s office and would ask to be taken to any client appointment. Perhaps he was therefore destined to become a Financial Adviser. At age 14 he narrowed down his career choice to the City, Property or the Law, and of his own volition he decided to get a law degree. His father, JP, however secretly knew and hoped he would come into financial services and join the firm.

You may therefore ask, why he came to study Theology & Philosophy at Exeter University? Well, it enabled him to drink a lot of beer and play a lot of rugby, with the promise to complete a Law Conversion course at the end of these three years. Try as he might, his father couldn’t fault it!

However, upon graduating with a 2:1, he decided a Law Conversion was not for him and naturally too wicked for the Priesthood. He decided that Financial Services was the obvious path and asked to join HdeB. His application was rejected! Thus began his baptism of fire with an old Style Stock broking firm, a Venture Capital Trust company and another firm of Wealth Managers. He achieved his Diploma in Financial Services, gained lots of experience and became a fully qualified financial adviser.

In February 2021, after much nagging from his mother, his father allowed him to join HdeB, where he has gone onto forge a career for himself and guarantees the continuity of service for generations of HdeB clients to come.
